PDP Diaspora Initiative Calls on U.S. Members to Seek Safety as Hurricane Florence Approaches
PDP Diaspora Initiative has expressed concern over the safety of its members living in the southern East Coast of the United States, as the whole region braces for Hurricane Florence, a monster tropical storm expected to hit the region as a Category 5 or 4 hurricane with winds as strong as 130 to 155 miles per hour.
“We have learned through the media that heavy winds are due to reach the coasts late Wednesday night, and Hurricane Florence is likely to hit land on Thursday night,” Founder and National Chair of the PDP Diaspora Initiative Hon. Victoria Pamugo said.
The authorities have issued a mandatory evacuation order for more than 1 million people living in the areas that are expected to take a direct hit from the hurricane.
“I can relate with the fear, concern, worry, anxiety and uncertainties people are feeling right now,” Hon. Pamugo said.
“Let’s all pray for God’s protection for our members and all the people in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and other affected parts of the U.S.,” she called.
