Diasporans for PDP congratulates Senator Adeleke for his victory in Osun State

Diasporans for PDP, a US-based organization of diaspora members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has congratulated Senator Ademola Adeleke for his resounding victory in the just concluded Osun State gubernatorial election held on Saturday, July 16, 2022.

“On behalf of all the members of our great party in the diaspora, I congratulate Senator Adeleke for his victory,” said the organization’s founder and national chair Hon. Victoria Pamugo in a statement made available to press.

“In fact, this is a great victory for our party in Osun. The Senator and his campaign fought honourably, tenaciously and admirably and the people of Osun have made the right choice by granting him this victory,” Hon. Pamugo said.

“The people of Osun will now begin to reap the dividends of democracy, even as the country continues to be led in the wrong direction by the All Progressives’ Congress (APC),” she said.

“By handing over this victory to PDP in a resounding way, the people of Osun have proven as well as shown to the nation how to reject APC’s mismanagement and incompetence. Now, we look forward to the same kind of victory across the country in the upcoming presidential election,” Hon. Pamugo said.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) formally declared Senator Adeleke as winner of the governorship election held in Osun State. The PDP candidate emerged victorious with more than 403,000 votes.

“Senator Adeleke’s win came at a time when APC leadership continues its full assault on our country Nigeria, wiping away all the progress the country has made since independence and taking the country backward.”

“Look at the neighbouring Ogun State, which is still under assault by APC, we are seeing secondary school students writing their exams on bare floor. Across the nation, university students have been out of school. Teachers are not paid. Doctors are not paid. Pensioners are not paid. Inflation and unemployment are rising high. Nigerians are hungry and have no food. No jobs! No security! No electricity! No good roads to drive on! This win in Osun gives all of us hope that change is coming to Nigeria,” Hon. Pamugo said.

“Once again, we congratulate Senator Adeleke and wish him well as he undertakes the difficult job of fixing Osun State for the benefit of all its people after years of retrogression caused by APC leaders,” she said.

The organization acknowledged the hard work of the PDP leadership and stakeholders, as well as the presence of the Osun Gubernatorial National Campaign Council led by the Chairman and Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Former Senate President, His Excellency, Senator Bukola Saraki, and Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki.

Even though Nigerians in diaspora are not eligible to vote in the upcoming general election, Diasporans for PDP plans to support by galvanizing the diaspora population to bring about real and lasting change in Nigeria.

“We will mobilize our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, uncles and families in Nigeria to vote wisely and together we will redeem our country from the harm caused by President Buhari and his APC friends over the past eight years,” she emphasized.

Diasporans for PDP is a registered non-profit organization based in the United States of America, with members from many countries including but not limited to Austria, Canada, Germany, Japan, Kenya, Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States of America.
