Dear Sir,
I write to formally notify the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of my resignation from the party, effective immediately.
This decision follows a long period of deep personal reflection, engagement with party stakeholders at various levels, and an honest assessment of the troubling trajectory the PDP has taken in recent years. As a committed member who has invested time, energy, resources, and goodwill in advancing the ideals of democracy under the PDP, this is by no means an easy step. However, it is one I must take in good conscience.
The prevailing culture of high-level indiscipline, impunity, usurpation of power, and persistent disregard for the Party’s Constitution has created a toxic environment that has made it impossible for principled voices to be heard or respected. Efforts, both formal and informal, by well-meaning members, including myself, to initiate reform and rescue the party from internal decay have been repeatedly ignored or silenced.
It has become increasingly evident that the PDP, in its current state, no longer reflects the values, aspirations, or democratic integrity upon which it was founded.
As the Founder and National Chair of Diasporans for PDP, a United States-based and registered non-governmental organization, I am proud of the unwavering commitment and sacrifices made by our members across the globe in support of the PDP. Together, we have invested immeasurable time, resources, and influence to promote the party’s visibility, build grassroots connections, and defend its ideals during critical national moments. Our membership spans numerous countries including but not limited to Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. This broad-based international engagement remains one of our proudest contributions to the democratic journey of our homeland.
Today, millions of Nigerians, including many within the PDP, are calling for a new political realignment. I stand in solidarity with these voices. It is time for a bold, people-driven coalition that prioritizes justice, unity, transparency, youth and women inclusion, and credible leadership, values that resonate with the hopes of Nigerian citizens.
I am proud to lend my voice and strength to this emerging coalition for national renewal. I remain committed to the cause of building a better Nigeria, and I will continue to serve with integrity and courage wherever I am called.
I thank the PDP for the platform it once provided and wish the party well as it navigates the challenges ahead.
