PDP Diaspora Initiative Honours the Sacrifices of Africans in Diaspora during Black History Month
As the month of February is set, black people all across North America are celebrating Black History Month.
PDP Diaspora Initiative enjoins its members in Canada and United States to take a moment every day throughout the month of February to celebrate and honour their African American heritage as well as their immense contributions of people of African decent to the building of the Americas.
“Black History Month is a good opportunity to recognize and honour the sacrifices of our forefathers who were brought here as slaves and upon whose backs the Americas was built,” PDP Diaspora Initiative Founder and National Chair Honourable Victoria Pamugo said.
“It is a time to celebrate the continued contributions of diaspora Africans in building the world, supporting the expansion of democracy and human rights, love of country, service to humanity, as well as racial justice,” she said.
Black History Month is observed every February in Canada and the United States. It is observed in the month of October every year in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Republic of Ireland. One full month of the year is dedicated as a period to remember important people and events in the history of the African diaspora.
PDP Diaspora Initiative is a registered non-profit organization based in the United States of America, with members from many countries, including Austria, Canada, Germany, Japan, Kenya, Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States of America.
