Diasporans for PDP Enjoins Senate to Return Ministerial List to Buhari for Lack of Vision for Nigeria’s Women and Youth

A US-based organization of members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) known as Diasporans for PDP has criticized President Buhari’s list of ministerial candidates as lacking in vision and ambition for the nation.

Nearly six months after the February 2019 rigged presidential election, while the presidential election tribunal is yet to make a pronouncement one way or the other on the disputed election results, President Buhari and his corrupt All Progressives Congress (APC) administration shocked the whole nation and managed to assemble a list of 43 ministerial nominees for the Senate to screen and confirm.

Speaking through a press release by the National Publicity Secretary Dr. Chidi Igwe, the organization said that the list of candidates submitted to the Senate for screening and confirmation betrays the future of Nigeria and has nothing to offer to the nation in the form of change.

“In other countries like Canada, France and the United States, women and youth are fully involved in government because they represent the future of the country,” PDP Diaspora Initiative Founder and National Chair Honourable Victoria Pamugo said.

"Why is President Buhari not nominating young people who represent the future of Nigeria? Why is APC robbing Nigeria’s youth of their future?”

Hon. Pamugo referred to President Buhari’s previous comments at the Commonwealth Business Forum in London where he described the Nigerian youth as “lazy and uneducated.”

“Why is the President not including more women in his cabinet?”

Hon. Pamugo also referred to President Buhari’s previous public comment in Germany where he said that the first lady of Nigeria Aisha Buhari belonged in the “kitchen” and “the other room.”

“Why are they recycling these tired APC politicians who have no new ideas to offer and have participated in establishing a culture of corruption and impunity in Nigeria?" Hon. Pamugo asked.

“President Buhari has chosen to recycle these politicians who have been there for too long and have participated in driving the country into the ditch, instead of giving a chance to capable Nigerians who will represent change,” she said.

Hon. Pamugo referred to the fact that the nominees are a bunch of men, former governors, ministers and APC politicians who have contributed in creating the current problems facing the country.

“Nigerians are suffering from East to West, North to South as a result of lack of vision and leadership from these same APC politicians,” she said.

“People have no jobs, no food and no good water to drink.”

“There is no reliable power supply for businesses to come and invest in the country. There are no good hospitals, no good public schools.”

“We have no good roads. Nigerians are hungry for change. Is this the best that the President can offer to a nation that desperately needs a significant change in direction? As Nigerians in diaspora, we are highly disappointed by this list of recycled APC politicians,” Hon. Pamugo said.

“This list is shortsighted and we reject it. We enjoin the Senate to return it to the President so that he can provide a new list of nominees that will represent the hopes and aspirations of all Nigerians,” Hon. Pamugo said.
