Diasporans for PDP Condemns the Kidnapping of Udeh Okoye; Calls on President Buhari and APC to Protect the Nation

A US-based organization of diaspora Nigerian members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has issued an absolute condemnation of the state of insecurity in Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) administration.

This condemnation comes in the wake of the kidnapping of PDP National Youth Leader, Rt. Hon. Udeh Okoye, on Monday, September 2. Hon. Okoye was abducted at gunpoint while visiting his farm in Enugu State. Although he has been released, no Nigerian should have to go through that kind of ordeal in their own country.

“Look at what President Buhari and APC have turned Nigeria into – a country where people can no longer feel safe to go about their daily lives, whereas it is the constitutional right of every Nigerian to live in safety and be free to pursue happiness in any part of the country where they choose to live,” PDP Diaspora Initiative Founder and National Chair Honourable Victoria Pamugo lamented.

“This cannot happen in any other country. In the United States of America, Canada, Britain and other democratic nations, public service is an honour and leaders are elected to serve the people.”

“Why are the Nigerian leaders taking actions that can only be described as wicked and inhumane to the people they are supposed to be serving? Why is it that they do not seem to care about the welfare and future of the country?” she asked.

“I call on President Buhari and APC to put the Nigerian youth back to work and give us a country we can be proud of as Nigerians,” she exclaimed.

“What do you expect in a country with one of the highest levels of youth unemployment? There is no job, no good education system, no good public schools, no good roads, no good infrastructure.”

“There is no food and people are hungry and suffering everywhere in Nigeria, and President Buhari does not care,” Hon. Pamugo lamented.

“Nigeria has no good health care system, no welfare schemes. All we have is President Buhari and APC nursing corruption and building impunity into a culture and way of life in Nigeria,” she said.

“Why do you think that the youth are all anxious to leave the country for other places like Australia, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and USA? It is because President Buhari has not provided a vision for the nation and the youth see no future in Nigeria,” she observed.

“I want to remind President Buhari and APC that those countries where they are sending their children for better education and where they themselves go to seek medical treatment were built and made better by their leaders,” she noted.

“Why are these corrupt APC leaders rather running Nigeria to the ground when they should be providing opportunities and building a better country for everyone?” Hon. Pamugo asked.

“The worst of it all is this lack of security. Crimes are rising in an alarming way. People are being kidnapped and killed every day and everywhere in Nigeria and President Buhari is just sitting there enjoying the comfort of a strong security in Aso Rock.”

“On behalf of PDP Diaspora Initiative, I challenge the president to do his job and provide a safe and secure country where every Nigerian can work hard and prosper!” she said.

“We condemn this rising crime and insecurity under his administration,” Hon. Pamugo said.

“As a people, we want a country where people can feel safe to work hard and climb the ladders of opportunity. But when this APC government continues to fail the people by not creating job opportunities, crime will continue to rise,” Hon. Pamugo warned.
